Love the weekend

17 Jan

Another great weekend draws to a close as the sky darkens and we prepare to hit up Mi Hogar for some luscious Mexican food. Been taking it easy this afternoon, watching some football and tweaking my new additions to this here website. Dawn and I just took a long walk around the neighborhood in celebration of our spring-like weather. I’m convinced our regular walking together is one of the strengths of our marriage. Rarely do we have such uninterrupted time to focus on each other and talk in a beautiful setting.

Our church had a men’s conference Friday night and Saturday morning that I was really pleased with. The speaker was clearly more interested in engaging in our stories and helping us to think more deeply about our lives than he was in simply passing on information. Looking forward to what the follow-up looks like for our community as well as how I process some of the thoughts that came to mind.

Last night a good friend turned another year older and we celebrated in a relaxed style. I was pretty tired for some reason so the pace was absolutely perfect. Homemade pizza, lovely cupcakes, one cute baby, and a solid Trivial Pursuit win. Shout out to Team One.

I’m not convinced that Americans have a good work/life balance but I do have the distinct feeling that God designed life to include times of fun and relaxation amidst the work of life. Amen and amen.
